Okay I picked up a scooter controller for a GREAT price BUT there are no specs on it and the lady says she thinks its from a 36V scooter.

This controller is HUGE I have a few scooter contollers and they are average size. I am thinking this might have come from one of those BIGGER scooters.

Here is the wiring I have:

thick red and black
thick yellow and blue
thin red green black
thin red orange
thin red black yellow
thin red blue

Anybody have any idea of what this is or where it came from (specs)??

LOL thanks Oagh

Yeah I went thru every controller at TNC

no match but most stated red and blue as the on/off or lock switch.

I came up with what you did as far as batt, motor, throttle after that I have no idea don't really want to damage it so I am waiting it out to see it anybody knows.

Seeing a pic won't make ME any smarter, I'm afraid. There are NO visible numbers that might indicate voltage or wattage?

The main input and output are obvious. You have (2) 3-wire connectors. One of which must be the throttle. Most likely the red, green, black. Check with DMM. Should be 5V from pos(red) to neg(black). Leaave all the others un-connected for now.

Since you are not certain of the voltage, I'd start with 24V. Connect a throttle and see if you can get any output on the motor leads. If you have no voltage at any connector, I'd repeat with a 36V source.

If you get no output with 36V, use your DMM to check voltage at all the connectors. If you have a voltage on the red/blue, try shorting them together and repeat the test. If you still have nothing, I'll need to sit and think some more.

Let us know what you try and how it works. Be VERY careful about connecting the battery in the right polarity, or you will have a very short testing session.

Maybe someone will still be able to recognize it from a pic. They all look alike to me.

nothing at all, no stickers and nothing stamped on the case.

well the red and blue wires.. if I put my meter to the red or blue and the other to the metal case I get the voltage of the batteries (24 or 36) and if I put my meter to the orange and red pair I get the battery voltage also.

who knows I am think I am fighting a losing battle

WOW it actually works

The on/off switch was actually the orange and red

The blue and red I am not sure of, also the red, black, yellow I have no idea either.

Well I now that I got it figured out it time to rewire this sucker up.

I will just hard wire the charger directly to the batteries so I think thats all I need besides the ones we have already figured out.

Anybody have an idea how to figure out the amps or watts on it????

Seems like the majority of the wire color identities on TNC show the red/blue to be "lock" connector and black/yellow to be the "brake".

Also since you only have one bundle of 3 wires I'd think that's your "throttle" connector/wires.

Hmmm... smooth case? No fins to disipate heat? That might indicate a lower wattage controller. But, that's just my hunch. Size of the box would seem to hint higher wattage, though.

Does it look like you could take the case off easily? And get some good, clear, close-ups of the innerds? I don't think "inside the box", but maybe some electronics experts on here will be able to recogize parts and therefore the ratings. Those are my best ideas. Doesn't sound like much help. Good luck.

I think its a great idea I will pull it apart I don't think I will hurt anything so no big deal.

But I didn't really like the comment about the no fins I sure hope that's not the case. I think the fins are on the sides but I don't have it in front of me.

Well I cracked it open and its not as big as the case in fact its the size of all the other controllers I guess they just gave it a lot of room to breathe.

My camera doesn't take pictures very well when you get that small so here is what I found on the board.
