Hey guys. The names Josh.
I was given an E-Scooter Brand Scooter for free. It needs some work, unfortunately but its all good. (Might have to replace lead acid batteries. ugh. Theyve sat for a while.)
Heres my question:
I currently have what I believe to be a standard drum brake installed. I believe it is malfunctioning though. (I cannot charge the batteries, as I do not have a charger yet. But if I hold the brake trigger, and then push the electric scooter, it does NOT brake.)
When I pull the trigger, I hear a "ting/click" sound from the brake, and I see the metal peice which is connected to the brake wire try to tighten or something, but it doesnt. (brake wire is similar to the ones that are on bicycles).
Can someone help me on this? I dont mind making a video, as it could explain the situation better than I can.
(Also, I'm wondering if it would be safe to just install bicycle brakes on this. As my e-scooter runs at >20km/h maximum. Ive rode faster on a bicycle before, and have stopped easily.) |

If adjusting the tension doesn't help then its probably the band has broken/crumbled or just gone all together.
If you can get the bike brakes on it and they grab they they should be fine.
